Essential Workout Clothing

Post Type

Getting fit isn’t just a case of slipping on a pair of trainers and going out for a run every so often. If you are serious about it, you should take the time to plan a fitness regime and alter your diet to suit your new plan.

If you aren’t sure about what kind of food to be eating or what kind of exercises you should be doing to reach your own personal goals, you can always search a reputable source online or ask a trainer at your gym to help you organise a programme to follow. Or you could ask me, haha! I’m now a fully qualified personal trainer.

As well as your fitness programme and diet you should also make sure you have the correct clothing to be able to exercise to the best of your ability. There are a lot of great brands that focus on performance clothing that can help you reach your potential with prices varying in a way that will fit any budget.

Searching online for great value performance clothing and making use of brand sales is a great way to get kitted out for less and you can also find better gymwear with money off at Groupon.

Getting started will always be difficult but every small step you take is a step closer to reaching your goal. We thought we would help you get a head start by looking at some of the essential gymwear items that you might need for your new fitness regime.

Trainers

Finding the right trainers will get you off on the right foot with your new training regime. It is amazing the amount of people that think all trainers serve the same purpose and because of this their technique and end results suffer.

Trainers that are great for running are unlikely to be good for weights where you would be better served by a flat sole. If you are looking for a good pair of running trainers, visiting specialist shops might be expensive but they have the expertise to find the perfect trainers to compliment your gait.

Compression Leggings

You might need to build up your confidence to sport a pair of compression leggings but you’ll feel the benefit when you do. Avoid chaffing, improve insulation while jogging on cold mornings and support your muscles to aid in your performance by trying leggings.

A great tip is to wear them under a pair of shorts to help protect your modesty, a lot of people have unworn leggings in their cupboard that they just can’t bring themselves to wear.

Shorts

Shorts can be a tricky one with some people opting for short shorts for running then thinking these are fine for the gym. Let’s just say that certain machines in the gym will expose the weakness of short shorts, and other things as well!

A good mid length pair of shorts that isn’t too long to impede your workout should be a priority. It is also worth noting that investing in an armband for your phone will be better than having it in your pocket. With so many of us using our phones for our workout soundtracks, the sound of phones slipping out of pockets onto the floor in the gym is all too common.

T-Shirts

Investing in a couple of good T-shirts for the gym is essential as it will not only aid your performance but it could also cut down on chaffing and give you a more comfortable performance. I personally love these from Carrot Banana Peach.

Developing technologies in materials are moving quickly to aid in performance. You should expect your T-shirt to help keep you cool and the sweat wicking feature will help to keep you dry during difficult workouts.

Having the right performance clothing can give you the confidence to really give it a go. By knowing you are fully prepared for your workout you can give it 100% so don’t think an old pair of joggies and a T-shirt will be fine, it probably won’t.
