I Fancy A Half At The EMF

Post Type

Having had a much needed mini-break from running, I feel like I’m now raring to go. I’ve still been getting in the gym three times a week and I’ve been mixing up my training quite a bit to keep my body guessing.

I always fancy a half of lager but in running terms, the half is 13.1 miles. I’ve only ever ran this twice. Once was here and the other was a training run leading up to my last challenge. The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is something I’ve heard loads about. It’s an annual event and they have runs for all ages and abilities. From a full marathon to junior races, it caters for everyone. Ross has been trying to get me to run an official half for ages now and I’m actually beginning to think that may become a possibility. The festival is in partnership with the Macmillan Cancer Support, dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by cancer. Running for a charity is great as I personally find it helps when things get tough. You may think it’s tough at the time but it’s nothing compared to what some people go through on a daily basis.

I’ve always said that running is something I do in small doses and it’s just something that counter balances my weight training. The two months break has been good and I’m now looking forward to return to parkrun soon. I have two runs in June and July and then I’m tempted to enter a half. I’ve missed the deadline with the EMF for this year but as it’s an annual thing, there’s always next year.

I’m a firm believer of using social media as a diary. If I say I’m going to do something, I’ll at least attempt it. With the EMF, it certainly sounds like something I might fancy. However, right now I also fancy half a lager. I wonder which one will win? Maybe I’ll complete the half and then celebrate by having a half of lager!
