Maximise Your Recovery

Post Type

Loads of people love working out but hate what comes after it if you do not prepare your body right, the cramping, the aching, and the jelly legs can really put people off or ruin peoples day.

Unfortunately people fail to realise that training is actually tearing your body up, it is tearing muscles and you need to rest and recover your body. If you are someone that likes to workout all the time then this is even more important for you, so your body can actually keep up with what you want to do.

Maximise Your Recovery

If you are working out lots and cannot seem to sort out the recovery afterwards then hopefully, these few tips will help you understand what you can do more and make sure you are recovering as best as possible for your body to keep up with your lifestyle.

Try and incorporate a foam roller

If you are already stretching or doing yoga when you finish your workouts then try and get a foam roller incorporated into that regime. There are already great benefits of yoga, but when using a foam roller it will break up any scar tissue caused by exercise, it will stimulate blood flow and will also loosen any tight muscles which will help to reduce any pain post workout. Another great thing about the foam roller is that if you can continue to use it it will help to make your muscles more supple which over time can help to reduce your chances at injury.

Maximise Your Recovery

Use Probiotics in your diet

It may sound weird to some but probiotics can help aid recovery for you, because the healthy bacteria that would be found in your gut play a key role in keeping your immune system healthy, not just the digestive system. You may think that your immune system would just aid with illness but it also helps the body to be able to tolerate more stresses which includes exercise. If your immune system is not strong then the harder workouts you are doing will be harder to recover from.

Get more protein in your diet

People tend to associate protein shakes and increased protein with people trying to build muscle and get big, but this isn’t the case. Protein is what is used to repair muscle quicker so it will help in recovery but it also contains amino acids which will help to jump start the recovery of your muscles as well meaning it is all done a lot quicker.

Stay hydrated

When you exercise hard enough you will sweat and this leads to you losing fluids which in turn will affect your muscles ability to function. If you take on a drink after workouts, especially sports drinks these will help to rehydrate your muscles and restore electrolytes lost through sweating. It doesn’t have to be a sugary drink as those are mainly to restore energy stores so just make sure it is packed with electrolytes and that will help your muscles function better and reduce cramping.

Maximize Your Recovery

If you are struggling with recovery after your workouts and you find it is affecting your day or you being able to workout as much as you would like. Then hopefully, these few tips will give you a better understanding of how you can maximise your recovery and make sure you are ready to go again should you want to.
